10 Best Vampire Video Games EVER
3. Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow
Listen, I know you're expecting Symphony of the Night to be here. Truthfully, both that and Super Castlevania IV are both superior games, mechanically speaking. But Lords of Shadow has a lot going for it.
First, while the game is certainly derivative of God of War, the combat is still solid. More importantly, it's the first good Castlevania game set in 3D, which is a hallmark in and of itself. The setting is appropriately bleak, and thankfully takes the game and moves it away from the typical haunted castle and into the greater world.
Gabriel will, in his quest to serve the Brotherhood of Light and solve the mystery behind the ghost of his wife, visits ruins, vast tundras, and a labyrinth in his travels with a healthy variety in enemies along the way.
The stakes in this game are sky-high, with battles with vampire lords, ancient werewolves, and no less than Satan himself attempting to return to Heaven. But the biggest hook comes in the end of the game, when players discover that Gabriel himself, unable to accept the utter failure of his quest, is seen in modern-days living as a vampire himself called Dracula.
The realization that the player has been playing as the iconic vampire himself, taking part in his ascension to power completely turns the game on its head, making it one of the most memorable moments in the franchise's vast history.
