5. Legacy Of Kain

It’s now been almost 17 years since the release of the last Legacy of Kain game, yet its fanbase is as loyal as ever. Offering an intriguing and complex plot, original characters and innovative (for its time) gameplay, it's easy to see how this franchise has remained popular after so many years.

The first game, Blood Omen was released in 1995 and met with rave reviews. Complimenting its storytelling, atmosphere, sound design, the series went on to amass a number of sequels. While some later entries faltered slightly, it remained generally popular and well received.

With dark themes and dialogue compared to the likes of Shakespeare’s work, it was a game targeted specifically at adults – unusual for the time. The title explored ideas of morality, free will and good and evil with a vampire lens thrown across all of it.

Legacy of Kain pushes you to think, not holding your hand, treating you like an adult and remaining captivating throughout. With a sequel looking as unlikely as coming across a real life vampire, these gems are definitely worth visiting if you haven’t already.
