10 Best Video Game Consoles - Ranked By Exclusives
6. Nintendo Wii
Best exclusive titles: Super Mario Galaxy 1/2, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, MadWorld, Sonic Colors, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros Brawl, The Last Story, Punch-Out!!, Excitebots, Red Steel 2, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Super Paper Mario, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Xenoblade Chronicles, Metroid Prime 3, No More Heroes 2, Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, Kirby's Epic Yarn. Despite making a killing off anodyne hand-waving party games and Yoga, it'd be remiss to say that the Wii was a purely 'casual' console. It was still a Nintendo console after all, which meant it offered up the latest iterations of its most loved franchises. Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 were phenomenal pieces of 3D platforming - possibly the best ever - while Nintendo was also unafraid to take things back to the second dimension with New Super Mario Bros Wii and the delightful Kirby's Epic Yarn. Metroid Prime 3, Skyward Sword, and the latest Mario Kart and Smash Bros round off what remains the best lineup of Nintendo's core series' to date. The Wii was also home to a host of unique action games, including Platinum Games' MadWorld (a spiritual ancestor to Bayonetta), Red Steel 2, and the excellent No More Heroes 2 - the latter two of which utilised the Wii motion sensors to satisfyingly brutal effect. The same can be said of Punch-Out!! For the people bemoaning the lack of an true Starfox game on the Wii, Sin & Punishment: Star Successor was an excellent run-and-gun shooter that happily filled that void, and those looking for deep, engaging RPG experiences could find them in the overlooked Last Story, and Xenoblade Chronicles.
