You cannot beat a good, ol' fashioned visual gag. The Simpsons is renowned for it over the course of its many seasons, as well as countless other TV shows, movies and everything in between.

So it was nice to Superliminal, a game about different perspectives and puzzle solving, pay worthy tribute to one of Homer's greats. In the crossover episode, The Simpsons Files, Homer encounters a sign saying "Die", to which he shrieks. As the wind reveals the seemingly innocent "Diet" instead, Homer still freaks out.

It was a great sight gag then, it still is now.

Superliminal (also a great word in the Yvan Eht Nioj Simpsons episode) references this with a corridor and stack of signs saying "Die" on them. Pretty foreboding, you might think, until you shuffle to the left and see that they're just a stacked crate of diet drinks.

It's a great shoutout to the golden era of Simpsons, that itself holds many, many quotable episodes.
