10 Best Video Game Factions You COULDN'T Join

1. Vigilants of Stendarr - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The Vigilants of Stendarr are a group of zealous monster hunters from Skyrim and other Elder Scrolls games who track down and destroy any and all forms of Deadric influence, such as vampires, werewolves, and, of course, Deadra.

This alone makes them sound infinitely more interesting than the Thieves Guild and the Companions, but what makes the idea of becoming an occult-slaying Vigilant even more compelling to Skyrim's community is the Deadric artifact quests that are scattered throughout the map.

Since the game allows you to make your own choices, it should only make sense that the player could try to destroy those artifacts just as they might be interested in obtaining them, similar to how you can choose to destroy the Dark Brotherhood. Joining a religious cult solely dedicated to fighting Deadra seems to fit this kind of goal perfectly.

Unfortunately, the Deadric quests rarely give you the option to defy the Deadric Princes, and the Vigilants remain a minor faction that you can only encounter in random events.

There are some quests where they make small appearances, but it's mostly so that they can get killed off halfway through the story.

So much for becoming the Van Helsing of Skyrim.
