10 Best Video Game Sequels Of All Time

6. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2

Batman Arkham city mr freeze
Neversoft

The first Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is the definition of a sleeper hit. Skateboarding wasn't mainstream in 1999, it was just... there. But after Neversoft hit the scene with this, the millennial extreme sports boom had its mascot.

Insane tricks, crazy locations and a banging soundtrack. What could make this better?

Well, with THPS 2 releasing just a year later in 2000, just about everything.

Neversoft ramped it up (pun intended) to 900, with crazier levels, more pros to imitate in real life and new tricks allowing for massive, millionaire-level point combos.

Like a good sequel, it was the quality of life improvements that made it so satisfying to play. Skaters would level out off of ramps, for example, adding to much more fluid gameplay.

It's hard to make it sound more verbose than "the same but better", but that's what Pro Skater 2 did. The addictive gameplay carried over without a hitch, making for some of the best solo and multiplayer skateboarding gaming out there.

And the soundtrack? Well, it had "When Worlds Collide" by Powerman 5000 on it.

'Nuff said.
