10 Best Video Game Sequels That NEVER Happened
7. Legacy Of Kain: Dead Sun
Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun is an especially tragic case of a cancelled video game sequel, as it was cancelled a whopping three years into its production.
This led to some understandable ire amongst fans and developers alike, as both were upset that all one thousand and ninety-five days work on the project were going to be totally thrown to the wayside. While the rest did go to waste, the multiplayer mode created for Dead Sun was repurposed into another game named Nosgoth.
However, in a jazzy twist, Nosgoth would be the reason Dead Sun itself became revealed to the general public, as details about the original game would be leaked onto internet forums, with concept art and gameplay footage eventually following suit.
Naturally, this made the situation slightly more uniquely painful, as while Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun was cancelled in 2012, its existence and cancellation was unveiled a year later.
While Dead Sun would have been the sixth entry in the series, there was clearly a desire to see it come out, which is what leaves it especially confusing that Square Enix officially stated that it "just wasn't the right game, at the right time".
