10 Best Video Game Soundtracks Of 2016

6. Star Fox Zero

Star Fox Zero may have been a wonky (and frequently uncontrollable) mess, but it wasn't all bad. The game's heart was clearly in the right place, an attempt to appeal to fans who fell in love with Lylat Wars on the Nintendo 64. if the controls had been better, most fans probably would have been happy enough.

One area the game doesn't fall down is in the music. Seriously, it's fantastic. Listening to the music, it's hard not to wonder whether or not most of the game's budget went into composing and recording the score, which makes the series' already epic tunes sound even more bombastic, like something from a blockbuster space opera.

Star Fox Zero features a host of new interpretations of classic tracks, performed by a bunch of new musicians including Hiroshi Yamaguchi, Yukari Suita and Hitomi Kurokawa. If you're skeptical, or even if you're not a Star Fox fan, check out the first minute of the above track. It's enough to get anybody's blood pumping.
