There are many people who have accidentally stayed up all night playing through a game of Civilization, constantly telling themselves that they'll come off after they've finished this war... or the next wonder... and the cycle continues until they start to realise the sun has begun to rise.
While the Civilization franchise has a new entry with Civilization VI, many fans of the series would argue that Civilization V is the superior game. The impressive amount of leaders, procedurally generated maps and random encounters and developments makes every game feel unique and like a new challenge. There's even premade scenarios that you can do too.
You probably won't be playing Civilization every day for weeks on end, but it is a truly reliable game that you can always fall back on for some fun. It can be enjoyed just by yourself, but if you're willing to play some even longer games, playing with friends can make for a lot of fun.
