10 Best Weapons In DOOM History - Ranked

8. The Unmaker - Doom 64

Doom 64 was considered a sequel to Doom 2, developed especially for the much-loved Nintendo 64. It was a complete revamp of the game - visual assets, sound effects, maps, and so on. Critics were split at the time; many felt it was just more of the same old Doom, and others felt it was the best version of the game yet.

Regardless of which side of the fence you were on, Doom 64 made one lasting contribution to the game - the Unmaker. The Unmaker was an unused asset from Doom and Doom 2, being mentioned in design documents but never actually created. The creative minds at Midway liked the idea of the weapon and into the game it went.

The Unmaker is, for all intents and purposes, a laser rifle created from what appear to be demon body parts. Although starting out as a basic weapon, by finding three artefacts spread throughout the game it can be upgraded to quickly shoot three laser beams at a time.

When fully modded it was a powerhouse of a weapon, basically becoming your endgame gun, capable of spewing red death into crowds of the undead from across the map.

Doom Eternal paid tribute to this weapon with the Unmaykr, a similar devastating energy weapon whose name is a play on words of the Maykr civilization from the game.
