Pikmin has been around since the GameCube days, but the third entry in the series is arguably the finest game starring the little critters so far. It's beautiful in HD, with foliage and fruit being rendered with impeccable attention to detail. Not only that, but it's also a complete doddle to control with the Wii remote and nunchuck too - it's never been easier to issue orders; just point and click, and the Pikmin will happily do your bidding. The GamePad s also put to great use, displaying a map of the area of all times. At first glance it may seem like a rather conservative use of the second screen, but it eventually becomes a pivotal tool in time management and multi-tasking (which is what Pikmin is all about). The 'go here' function allows players to send a member of their crew to another area while they focus on doing something else. Essentially with this system you can have all three members of your team doing different tasks simultaneously. It's a very polished, charming game with epic boss battles and satisfying gameplay perfect for anyone with a slight hint of OCD. Even though the series is 14-years-old, there's still nothing else quite like it.
