10 Best Zombie Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)
6. Day Z
Although it's been in early access for years (and was a mod long before even that), it would be wrong to leave a game as influential as Day Z off this list.
Being the first title to really pioneer the idea of a hardcore zombie survival sim, the game became a smash hit on Steam when it was first released. Dropping players into a huge map and making them scavenge for vital supplies and weapons, the idea is that you only have one life to get as much accomplished as you can. Die, and you start all over again.
In classic zombie movie fashion, the main threat of Day Z isn't the walking dead themselves, but other players.
With the ability to either work together or kill anyone to steal their loot, the game promotes a sense of caution and paranoia when encountering people on the same server, a dynamic aspect which keeps things interesting no matter how many times you jump into a new match.
