10 Biggest Concerns With Upcoming 2023 Video Games

1. The Question Of Innovation - Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

Breath of the Wild was a huge deal for open-world games back in 2017. It completely revitalized the genre's stale formula by introducing a brand new approach to exploration and novel mechanics that rewarded the player for their curiosity and creativity. The game set a new standard within the industry, and a lot of titles following its release would try to emulate its success by adding features such as rock climbing and gliding.

However, since then, the gaming industry has seen the rise of many other great open-world titles, such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and Elden Ring. The bar that Breath of the Wild set has been raised several times, and now the sequel, Tears of the Kingdom, will have to do a lot more to become the phenomenon the original game was.

The trailers for the game have already shown that Tears of the Kingdom is going to introduce a lot of new mechanics, like the ability to construct vehicles and new time-altering powers. However, some are worried that this may not be enough to make the game feel fresh and innovative when compared to its competition.

The setting of the game will be the same as Breath of the Wild, including the map and the characters, and most of the old mechanics will remain the same as well. With this in mind, it's hard to tell if the sequel will be another ground-breaking marvel of its generation or a slightly upgraded version of a massive hit from six years ago.
