1. The Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Breath of the Wild isn't just one of the best games this year; it's one of the best games ever made.

Completely redefining the conventions of Zelda for modern gamers, but still retaining everything that made the series great, Breath of the Wild masterfully manages to balance a huge open world with the enticing gameplay and characters of the series, whilst also introducing brand new features and elements that haven't been seen before.

The small number of flaws that are in the game, such as frame rate drops and weapon durability, don't detract from what is easily one of the biggest accomplishments in video game development in years. A game that now has the record for "most perfect scores on Metacritic" is surely one of the most well made titles in years, too.

If any game deserves to win game of the year so far in 2017, Breath of the Wild is definitely the number one contender.
