10 Biggest Gaming News Stories That Shocked The World

2. The 'Super Columbine Massacre RPG'

We're not quite sure what was going through the minds of the developers of this one, but this is an honest-to-goodness game that was made to recreate the events of the Columbine shootings. Naturally this title, which replicated the events of the shootings and put you in control of those doing the act, was universally panned by both critics and those who had been physically scarred by the massacre. In the game, which plays out like a standard retro RPG, players will take the role of the two shooters, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold as they carry out their plan (complete with flashbacks) and enemies are named such things as 'preppy girl' and 'jock type'. Extremely controversial doesn't come down to it with this one. Even though the developer has spoken several times about being affected by the events as a child and wanting to show how gaming wasn't to blame (it was widely disputed that this was the case at the time), creating this game is both insulting to those who were victims of this crime and only further alienated the media from the medium of gaming.
