2. Nintendo Finally Put The Wii U Out Of Its Misery

For a while there, Wii U owners were diligently holding out for the next Zelda to swoop in and make everything okay again, as it is quite literally the ONLY game on the remote horizon for the console.

Yet, even that was been delayed into later this year and won't be launching alongside the Switch, dooming the Wii U into a state of 'console purgatory' that ended in November when Nintendo finally ceased its production.

It'd be time for a eulogy if there was anything truly worthwhile to say overall. Sadly, the Wii U - and especially its Gamepad - will remain the video game equivalent of Homer Simpson's car; a cobbled-together series of ideas that seemed cool in the moment, but got zero longevity in the long run, serving only to cost all those involved a ton of time and money.
