10 Biggest Scams In Gaming History

6. Mortal Kombat 1 - Switch

THE DAY BEFORE
NetherRealm

Even though the Switch version of Mortal Kombat 11 was decent, it struggled to maintain a 60fps performance, especially when it came to online features. As a result, it was presumed Nintendo wouldn't bother porting the follow-up, especially since it was next-gen.

So, when it was announced Mortal Kombat 1 was coming to the Switch, scepticism was justifiably high.

However, nobody was expecting the end result would be this profoundly broken. With its expressionless characters, incomplete textures, excessive clipping, and janky gameplay, MK1 makes a strong case for the worst Switch port ever. Despite receiving an onslaught of patches, this dud still isn't up to standard. What's worse is the promotions gave no indication this port would have such glaring issues.

But there's a reason for that. At one point in the Nintendo gameplay teaser, a Steam notification pops up, proving that some of the footage wasn't running on the Switch. Even though the promo opens with the message "Footage Not Final," nothing could justify this level of deception.

This very literal bait and Switch wasn't just misleading, but an outright lie of what to expect from the finished product.
