10 Biggest Video Game Controversies Of 2015

5. The Removal Of Hulk Hogan From WWE 2K16

The leaked sex tape of professional wrestling veteran Hulk Hogan was a huge story in 2015, and it was made only worse by the racist ramblings contained within. The subsequent backlash he faced ultimately ended with his termination from the WWE, along with the removal of his persona from any content or merchandise affiliated with the brand. This witch hunt even expanded into video games, specifically WWE 2K16. In response to the controversy surrounding Hogan, 2K Games decided to remove him from the player roster, along with any references to his likeness or existence. Wrestling fans and gamers were confused and even outraged by this removal. Many saw it not only as disrespectful to one of the most recognizable faces of the wrestling industry, but as outright censorship. Instead of moving forward and acknowledging the past with maturity, 2K Games felt the need to ignore it completely as if it never happened. Now even those who wished to beat up Hogan€™s in-game character couldn€™t do so. Don€™t expect Hogan to make an appearance in any games going forward either, as his removal will most likely extend for the foreseeable future. Ultimately, the Hulkster's removal from 2K16 is just another bullet point in a misguided attempt to expunge an entertainer from history for stupid things he€™s said in the past, and, well, that€™s kind of daft, as many people saw through it.
