The Order: 1886 seemed dead-set to be the next big series for Sony. The setting of 19th century London, featuring a centuries-old feud between the Knights of the Round Table and werewolves. It's an incredible setting for a game, it's also one of the prettiest video games ever made. So what's the problem?

Well, there were two main problems with The Order: 1886, which can be boiled down to one source: Ready At Dawn were so concerned with making a fantastic engine and a beautiful game, that it forgot to add in the fun.

While the characters, world and story are great, the guns are even quite fun to shoot, the game had a distinct feeling of being an on-rails shooter. Of course, it's not, but it shares the same feeling of being funnelled down thin corridors with exact windows of opportunity to shoot things.

The Order: 1886 is a game overflowing with potential, but a series likely to remain dormant forever.
