10 Biggest Video Game Disappointments Of The Generation
2. Fallout 76
The 'Bethesda Pass' so often spoken of in gaming, completely expired with Fallout 76. No longer was the buggy nature of the games forgivable due to the great worlds and compelling stories, because Fallout 76 featured neither. Leaving nothing but the painful bugs and glitches in its wake.
Fallout 76 is what you might refer to as a perfect storm of crap. It's bad enough that the game runs like it's on a Commodore 64, but the bigger issues now are stemming from the canvas/nylon bag debacle, and then players getting Doxxed. It's about as things can possible get for a video game in 2018, and Bethesda finds itself in a PR nightmare.
While expectations were never particularly high for Fallout 76, the reason this is so disappointing is because a multiplayer Fallout game has a lot of potential. And the reason Bethesda failed so hard at delivering it is because the developer was trying to appeal to multplayer gamers and single player gamers at the same time. Something that is nigh-on impossible to do.
Perhaps with time Fallout 76 will become a viable online multiplayer experience but, as it stands, it might actually take 76 years to get there!
