10 Biggest WTF Moments In Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth

8. Fort Condor

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has its share of weird moments before Fort Condor, but its revival of the original's RTS minigame is the moment Rebirth grabs hold of the surrealism dial and sets it to full dada.

When Rebirth's adorkable robo-boy Chadley guides your party towards a board game emanating strange energies, it sets off the most bizarre side-quest in the entire game. FF7's Big Three of Cloud, Tifa and Barret get sucked into the game and transmogrified into their blocky, PS1-era character models (albeit given a spiffy HD makeover). They then take part in a simplified MOBA to win a piece of armour from an interdimensional, amnesiac swordsman...

Just another Tuesday for FF7's crew, who take all of two minutes to accept their new reality before moseying across the game board to their prize!

Fort Condor is just one of many side-quests involving Gilgamesh - the aforementioned amnesia-stricken swordsman - but it's by far the most memorable of the bunch. It helps that Fort Condor is genuinely fun to play, unlike some of Rebirth's minigames (looking at you, Gears and Gambits), and Cloud's stoic reaction to the increasingly ludicrous scenario shows why he's one of gaming's best straight men.
