10 Biggest WTF Moments In Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth

4. Loveless

Those who played 2007's Final Fantasy: Crisis Core will be familiar with Loveless. In FF7's lore, Loveless is heralded as the greatest literary masterwork ever created, despite every quote from it sounds suspiciously like it came from lead designer Tetsuya Nomura's high school poetry journal.

So when Rebirth's cast sit down to watch a performance of the play, you know something special is about to go down. Yet nothing can prepare you for the next 15 minutes of madness.

After a melodramatic introduction, your party members are somehow transported into the play through the magic of VR. The hulking Barret becomes a medieval warlord, Red XIII is transformed into a Cerberus-like demon dog, robot cat Cait Sith becomes a jester and Cloud's love-interest becomes a Goddess. A Goddess who Cloud fights alongside in a series of utterly barking QTEs that give Final Fantasy XVI a run for its money.

Then, just when it seems to be over, Aerith takes the stage for a stunning song that acts as the biggest tear-jerker across Rebirth's 100-hour runtime. Seriously, who knew the flower girl from the slums/future saviour of the planet had such a great set of pipes?

Turns out the residents of Final Fantasy VII's world were right all along: Loveless really is a one of a kind masterpiece!
