10 Biggest WTF Moments In Mass Effect History
1. The Ending Of Mass Effect 3
There truly is no greater WTF moment in the Mass Effect trilogy than its final moments, which is so disconnected from the previous dozens of hours that it practically imploded the series in on itself and set the fan community ablaze with confused disappointment.
You know the story. With 10 minutes left before the credits role, suddenly Shepard is whisked away and introduced to an ancient A.I. that controls the entire Reaper army, who clumsily exposits its motivations in a way that is somehow both overly muddled and overly simple; raising logistical questions while answering very little else. You are then forced into making a choice; the effect of which is left frustratingly ambiguous.
Needless to say that most fans where left flabbergasted by how sudden all of this plays out compared to the meticulously crafted and highly engaging narrative that preceded it. It feels like it came from an entirely different game; thrown together at the last minute because the developers ran out of time. It left a sour taste in nearly everyone's mouth, which is not what you want your audience to feel when it's all said and done.
