10 Biggest WTF Moments In Super Mario Games
4. The Three Figures In Mario Galaxy
Released in 2009 for the Nintendo Wii, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the brilliant sequel to the game that reinvigorated the three-dimensional Mario platformers. After the release of Super Mario Sunshine, fans and critics wondered what Nintendo might do to refresh the formula like FLUDD had done before. The answer? Send Mario and the gang into space.
While the game went on to be a massive critical and commercial success (much like its predecessor) it didn't take long for fans to start noticing some of the stranger aspects of the game. Most notable among these were the three figures that inhabited Shiverburn Galaxy. If players turn around near the beginning of the level and look up towards the skyline, three looming shadows with arms and eyes can be seen just...watching Mario. No matter where you go in the level, these figures maintain their chilling distance, never quite out of sight yet never close enough to be obviously present.
