Microsoft's reshaping in 2016 has been about as subtle and painless as that transformation scene in American Werewolf in London. Not only does console exclusivity seem to be becoming a thing of the past for Microsoft, as they're focusing on implementing effective Windows 10 cross-compatibility for their XBO games (not necessarily a bad thing), but they've also closed a whole bunch of their in-house studios in the process.

The biggest shock was the shutdown of Lionhead Studios, the developers formerly headed by Peter Molyneux who were behind wonderful games like the Fable series and Black & White. Inevitably, this meant that the anticipated exclusive, Fable Legends, was disposed of as well.

Perhaps a little less surprising, though still unfortunate, was the closure of four studios specialising in Kinect games and a further two smaller studios, marking hundreds of job losses and an acknowledgement that the awkward motion-tracking tech is all but dead - which, to be fair, is probably the best thing to have come out of this whole mess...
