10 Blatantly Racist Video Games

7. Scribblenauts

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51nKrAlxXbw Scribblenauts is a fantastically inventive, enjoyable game for players of all ages, and so one thinks, how could it possibly be offensive in any way? Well, it all comes down to one word, "Sambo", which aside from being a term for a particular type of martial art, in case you're unaware, is a racist term for a black person. If you've never played Scribblenauts, one of its mechanics allows you to write something down, and the game will create it for you. So, write "Sambo", and as in the video above, a watermelon will appear, adhering to the stereotype that, of course, all black people love chowing down on a tasty watermelon. Sure, they could have gone one worse and had rice, peas and fried chicken appear in front of the character, but it's still an absurdly racist element of the game that someone must have intentionally added in. It's an all the more disturbing addition because the game is so cute and aimed at families; this is really not the sort of thing that should be added even as a joke. Save that for adult games.
