10 BONE-BREAKING Video Game Moves That Made You Wince

7. The Final Strike - Batman: Arkham (Series)

The combat system of the Batman: Arkham franchise isn't just solid; it was revolutionary. As you overpower dozens of henchmen with a mix of martial arts, wrestling moves, and gadgets, you truly feel like you are Gotham's protector. What makes these fights so gratifying isn't just Batman's fluidity or speed but his ferocity. Every single punch looks genuinely sore. You feel every cracked rib, every dislocated shoulder, and every shattered clavicle.

But if you're finding a horde of enemies simultaneously, how can you tell which ones have been defeated and which ones haven't? Well, it's very simple. If you hear an echoing boom when Batman strikes someone, that sound means that guy is not getting back up. Hearing this bone-shattering noise sounds painful but it's also satisfying since it makes you realise you have one less criminal to deal with.

However, Batman saves his most powerful strike for last. When you perform the finishing blow on the last enemy standing, the camera zooms in and the gameplay slows down to highlight the punch or kick even further. Even though you will see this takedown countless times during your playthrough, you never get used to how unpleasant it looks.
