10 Books That Would Make Great Video Games
9. His Dark Materials By Phillip Pullman
Upon its publication, His Dark Materials put a unique stamp on the fantasy genre. It received a highly budgeted large scale film adaptation in 2007, which looked destined for greatness but unfortunately faltered. Alongside the disappointing production came an equally underwhelming video game. The title proved that there was potential for an outing based on this property but didn't entirely seal the deal.
There is still a tonne of interest in the franchise, as evidenced by the recent TV series commissioned by the BBC and HBO. This resurgence shows that demand still exists for this series, and it's hard to argue against that.
Through the Daemons - those being the physical embodiment of the characters' spirits in animal form - the developers would be able to craft gameplay that blends between acting as both human and animal characters. But ultimately, being able to take control of a war bear in an environment with decent environmental destruction mechanics would be incredibly satisfying for players and highly worth the game's potential price.
