10 Brilliant Video Games Buried Under TERRIBLE Mechanics

1. Brutal Legend - Every Time It Turns Into An RTS Gameplay

Double Fine

Brutal Legend is a game that upon description sounds like an angry teenagers metal as hell fever dream. But it was real, and it was almost perfect.

Double Fine is one of the biggest shames that has ever graced the video game world. The company itself is filled with unique ideas, amazing art, and games that separate themselves in every possible way from the norm of the time. When the company *actually* releases a game that is.

So when they released a 3rd person action game starring Jack Black using a guitar as an axe - while somehow created a better homage to Fantasy Metal than even that Total Boobage episode of South Park - it was clear they were onto a winner.

Then the whole thing turned into an RTS. On an Xbox controller. Out of nowhere.

On paper the idea sounds fantastic, using Headbangers as basic infantry, Groupies as archers, and Lemmy of Motorhead fame led bassists as healers, the entire thing simply begs to be loved. But the reality is a slog of basic and jarring RTS game play that makes you wish for a return to the classic 3rd person action.

Let's just hope Psychonauts 2 doesn't turn into an extended Gacha game halfway through.
