10 Broken Video Games That Still Aren't Fixed
4. Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Fate Of Two Worlds
Release Date: February 15, 2011
What Happened?Anyone who's played Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes will be aware of just how broken that game was, to the point that competitive players largely agreed to make use of the poor balancing as an actual game mechanic and strategy. Still, MVC2 came out in 2000, an age before patches and updates on consoles were a thing, so there wasn't much they could do, right?
Over a decade later, the third game came along, however, and they certainly could do something about it then. The game was largely still embraced by critics and players even though it was horribly unbalanced, with grossly over-powered characters (namely Wesker), the ridiculously powerful X-Factor, and glitches that allowed players to tinker with the game's damage mechanics in ways the developers never imagined or intended.
Today: The Ultimate MVC3 released later in 2011 did tone down X-Factor and fix some of the balancing issues, but sadly not all. By 2013, Capcom's expired contract with Marvel actually prevented them from updating or patching either the original MVC3 or the Ultimate version, so the game is now left as is, an entertaining if bizarrely, fundamentally flawed effort that's often as infuriating to play as it is fun.
