It would take until 2015 for there to be a proper Star Wars Episode VII, but LucasArts planned its own continuation of the Skywalker Saga years prior, with the idea for Shadows of the Sith popping up around 2004.

Though it never progressed beyond the concept stage, former LucasArts devs revealed to Cinelinx that the studio was apparently extremely interested in the idea, and was planning on tying the story into both the films and the Expanded Universe.

The game would have cast you as Ben Skywalker, son of Luke, as a new threat was rising in the galaxy. According to reports, the game was going to be force and lightsaber focused, introducing a whole bunch of new powers and abilities as Ben struggled with his allegiance to either the Dark or Light side.

The concept was never put into full production, but a lot of the gameplay mechanics were apparently retooled for The Force Unleashed, which the studio decided to work on instead.
