10 Cancelled Star Wars Video Games Fans Were Robbed Of
8. Project Viking/Orca
The most recent projects to get cancelled, both Project Orca and Viking were in development at EA Vancouver. The former was originally put into development in 2017 following EA's cancellation of Amy Hennig's Ragtag (more on that later), envisioned by the publisher to be an open world Star Wars game with live service elements.
According to Kotaku, this was going to be yet another 'Scoundrel' game, focussing on the criminal underbelly of the Star Wars universe, with players being able to explore multiple open world planets.
That project didn't last long though, and it was revealed that EA cancelled Orca in 2019, with the plan for EA Vancouver to make another, smaller scale Star Wars game in its place. However, news of that project's cancellation came out a year later.
Project Viking - as it was known internally - was allegedly going to a Battlefront spin-off, story-driven, and again would have open-world elements. Again according to Kotaku, the problem was it became too ambitious for the timeframe (EA wanted it out to coincide with new consoles in 2020), and decided to cancel it when it became clear it wouldn't hit the deadline.
That makes EA three for three when it comes to cancelled and released Star Wars games, which isn't exactly a great ratio.
