With how bad Sonic games can be, you'll be surprised to hear that Sega ever says "enough is enough" and cancels a Sonic game.

Sonic X-treme was going to be Sonic's true leap to 3D, the problem is development didn't exactly go well and the project was cancelled. Thankfully, an unfinished version of the game can be found online.

After the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles, development on a video game that bundled them both into one started. This game was called Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Limited Edition. The was cancelled, but judging by the title of this article, yes, it can be found on the internet.

A cancelled educational game called Sonic Edusoft can also be found online.

Finally, Sonic X-treme isn't even the only game called that to get cancelled and later resurface on the internet. A prototype of a title called Sonic Extreme was pitched to Sega as well, but was declined. Though the game involved Sonic on a hoverboard, two years after the pitch, another hoverboard-centric game, Sonic Riders was shown off by Sega.

Has a degree in video game development. Is kinda addicted to video games, television, and films. Probably needs some help, to be honest.
