10 Cancelled Video Games You Can Actually Play
3. Warcraft Adventures: Lord Of The Clans
The Warcraft series is huge, not only does it contain the largest MMORPG ever with World of Warcraft, it also contains a trilogy of excellent real-time strategy games, and the addicting card game Hearthstone. The thing is, the franchise was also meant to contain a point-and-click adventure game.
Warcraft Adventures: Lord Of The Clans stars the iconic Warcraft character Thrall as he attempts to reunite the rest of the orcs. The game was cancelled as Blizzard didn't think it lived up to the quality of the point-and-click adventure games that were being released at the time.
Like many cancelled games though, ideas from Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans were used throughout the rest of the franchise. The story influenced Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, it was adapted into the novel "Warcraft: Lord of the Clans", and it was a key inspiration for the Warcraft movie.
A near-complete build of the game was posted on the Warcraft site "Scrolls of Lore". If the animation in the game seems familiar it's because it was animated by the same people who made the first two Zelda CD-i games, it's surprising that they could still find work after that.
