10 Changes PS4 Needs To Keep Ahead In The Console War
5. The Camera
One monumental surprise following the Playstation 4s launch was the success of its camera. Proving to be unexpectedly popular with many buyers, the peripheral has seen over a million units purchased, roughly one in six for every Playstation 4s sold across the world. Suggested reasons have ranged from better streaming quality via facecam, to preparation for the release of Project Morpheus, but whatever the case, it has been a runaway success. Unfortunately, while it might have been proven to be incredibly popular, the camera itself is not without failings which desperately need to be corrected. Facial recognition in particular has proven to be a sticking point, proving to be far slower and less reliable than anything of its hefty price-tag should be, and lacks many potential options for navigation. Despite the Kinect's dire reputation, the technology has advanced far enough for gestures to be an accurate and reliable browsing tool. Hell, it's certainly a far easier and more responsive one than thumbsticks. If Sony wants to capitalise upon the camera's success, better options and integration into the Playstation would be a definite start before moving onto any more games.
