6. Xenomorph - Alien: Isolation

The scariest entry on our list comes from Alien: Isolation. Generally regarded as one of the best horror games of all time, Isolation's Xenomorph makes the list over the likes of Outlast, Amnesia and Slender because of its very special mechanics. Post-release, the developers stated that the Xenomorph is programmed to learn about the player. As the game progresses and the player creates certain habits, it understands whether you like to hide in lockers, vents, closets or underneath tables. Terrifying, right?

As a result, due to you being completely vulnerable to the Xenomorph until the very end of the game, Isolation wins for most terrifying one-hit kill in gaming. You can run, but you literally cannot hide – well, sometimes you can but eventually the Xenomorph will find you and there’s really only so much you can do. There are certain pieces of equipment you can use to circumvent the creature, maybe even delay or prevent it attacking, but unless you’ve got your trusty flamethrower, you’ll be an easy snack for the perfect organism.
