2. Yurarin

Yurarin was a water enemy who only appeared in 1989's Super Mario Land; a relatively simple enemy to beat, the Yurarin swam around the screen at low speeds toward Mario and as per the usual rules, contact caused damage. They came in a variety of colours and were ruled by a huge boss-sized king, called Dragonzamasu.

Honestly, Yurarin looks almost exactly like Horsea; so much so that if I didn't know better, I'd say that Yurarin was maybe Horsea's more flamboyant cousin. The two are so strikingly similarthat I find it hard to imagine the former didn't influence the latter in some small way, whether directly or indirectly.
