10. Tekken
Tekken was released in 1994 in arcades and then released on the PlayStation in 1995. Tekken received positive reviews and started an extremely popular franchise that has spanned numerous platforms and has sold millions. Tekken was the first PlayStation game that sold over a million copies, so it is obvious that it was a popular game. Unfortunately, it would suffer from a lot of the same issues that Time Crisis would as well. Tekken, on console, was a direct port of the arcade game similar to Time Crisis. As before, Tekken would be considered an extremely short game. The only game mode available was the arcade mode which consisted of the player choosing a character and fighting through a few fights until the boss fight and then the game was completed. Replay value came from the ability to play though the game with different characters and also from learning and mastering different moves available to the characters. This would not be enough game content for the developed games industry. Current fighting games have numerous different game modes, different styles and options for fighting, Tekken would not cut it any more. Tekken would also be considered repetitive. The move sets for different characters are very similar with most of the difference being aesthetic. This lack of difference in style and feeling with the different characters will bore players and again, would cause them to turn to other similar, more complex games. This further emphasises how gamers have changed and matured with the industry and expect more complex games.
