10 Classic PC Games That Have Been Updated For Modern Devices

8. Sanitarium

Buy Sanitarium Recent horror games like Alien Isolation and Layers of Fear may have the technical prowess to make you jump out of your seat each time they go 'boo', but when it comes to pure spine-shivering dread, few games can stand up to this isometric horror adventure. Sanitarium still looks great today thanks to its hauntingly well-drawn pre-rendered backgrounds and unsettling Lynchian dialogue and plot. You control a heavily-bandaged man who finds himself in a mental asylum after waking up from a car accident, with no memory of how he got there. You walk around creepy environments, solving puzzles and talking to the disturbing denizens of the asylum, all of whom are so mutilated and freakish that they make Arkham Asylum look like a well-to-do boarding school. It's all point-and-clicks, with a fair old bit of puzzle-solving thrown into the mix. Despite coming out at a time when adventure games were infamous for their inscrutable puzzles, Sanitarium actually ticks along at a good pace, allowing you to get immersed in its nightmarish world without getting too frustrated.
