9. Saddler Revealing The Plan To Leon - Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 4 is arguably the best game in the series, refining the gameplay mechanics as it did so brilliantly. However, it's tainted somewhat by the drudgery of having to constantly care for, protect and hide the President's daughter, Ashley Graham, a feeble, whiny, near-useless character who only serves to make the game more challenging. She is kidnapped by a satanic cult in the middle of nowhere, and Leon S. Kennedy is sent in to retrieve her. What surprises me is how easily Leon is able to locate her in the early stages of the game, discovering her holed up in a chapel. Now, some might argue that this is merely part of the deception, as moments later, Osmund Saddler explains that the goal is actually for Ashley to be taken back to the US safe and sound, because she's secretly infected with the Plagas, and this will cause a catastrophe when she returns. It's a quite brilliant plan, really, but the stupidity is in explaining this to Leon, perhaps out of arrogance that he wouldn't possibly be able to get her cured. Still, why tell him when you can just let him escape with Ashley, and the pair of them (because Leon's infected, too) can cause a nationwide epidemic on their return to the US? The beauty of the plan is its simplicity, and yet Saddler basically ruined it all with his big mouth, because the pair then made sure to cure themselves before leaving the island.
