10 Co-Op Video Games That Created More Enemies Than Friends

1. Every Single Thing About Battletoads

There have been hundreds of video games throughout history to feature a cooperative mode. Among them, none have been less justified than the one found in Battletoads. Battletoads was impossible to beat with two players. That€™s not an exaggeration; the game actually featured a glitch which disabled the second player€™s controller upon reaching the eleventh level.

While such a destructive glitch in a major release would usually be an infamous part of gaming history, this particular shortcoming wasn€™t known to many NES gamers, as few of them ever made it anywhere close to the breaking point. With its shared life system and the ability to hit your partner easier than you can any of the game€™s enemies; Battletoads€™ two-player mode was simply vindictive.

It is a testament to its absurd difficulty that the two-player mode somehow manages to get even worse if you survive the already nearly impossible speeder bike stage. There is no friendship which can survive a tour of duty through Battletoads€™ co-op mode.
