10 Completely Pointless Video Game Details (That Will Blow Your Mind)

6. Metal Gear Solid 2's Ice Cubes Melt In Real Time

Whether the developers were creating horses that could shart on command or creating a villain who could be killed by advancing your system's clock so that they die of old age, there's an endless supply of small things you might have missed while playing through the Metal Gear Solid series.

By far the most pointless example of the developer's attention to detail however can be found in Metal Gear Solid 2, which was a technical marvel at the time. To prove just how advanced the game was compared to others, the developers made it so that the ice cubes - which can only be found in the very first mission, mind you - actually melt in real time.

If you knock over the bucket holding them and they fall onto the counter, the cubes will begin to very slowly melt, eventually disappearing entirely. It adds nothing to the scene, and the feature doesn't even show up again after this, but it did prove that MGS 2 had graphical features other games could only dream of.
