10 Confusing Video Game Levels We NEVER Want To Play Again

9. The Water Temple - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

I know, we had to do it. I’d argue this is the perfect list for The Water Temple to live on because on reflection it wasn’t that hard, it’s just that most of us played as kids and probably sucked at games a lot more than we do now. What it was, however, is extraordinarily confusing. A labyrinth of corridors, hidden channels, rooms, numerous puzzles, and hidden switches, this was just too much for a lot of kids to figure out, and remains an exercise in frustration for most adults.

Of course it doesn’t help that I can count the number of games where travelling through water doesn’t suck on one hand the Ocarina of Time does not make the cut.

If the navigation wasn’t complicated enough there’s also threatening spiky enemies to contend with, things that want to kill you in the water where you can only attack with your hookshot, and specific locations to find so you can change the water level to achieve your goal which requires an incredible level of outside-the-box thinking.

I guess we’re better gamers after getting through this one but, boy, does it make me hesitate before wanting to start another playthrough.
