3. Resident Evil 6
Resident Evil 6 got a lot of well-deserved derision on release.
After Capcom reinvented the series with Resident Evil 4, fans were alarmed when RE5 began crossing into territory that can only best be described as "silly". For example, co-protagonist Chris Redfield punching a large boulder into a volcano.
Fans were even more crestfallen when Resident Evil 6 threw all semblance of its tone and themes out the window and went full insanity.
The story jumped between numerous characters and gameplay styles, from horror, to shooter, to whatever fighting zombies with super-powered karate is. It was also intense. The entire series up to that point had played out very much like a series of B-horror movies, but RE6 was like if Fast And The Furious were directed by The Room's Tommy Wiseau - then add monsters, some of whom were the size of buildings.
Now that the series has been course-corrected by the excellent Resident Evil 7 and RE: Village, you can go back to 6 and enjoy it for the big, exceedingly dumb ride it is. Put it on easy, grab a friend for co-op or controller-passing, and enjoy the show.
