10 Convoluted Video Game Lores Even The Creators Don't Understand

Death Stranding isn't merely one of the best games of 2019, it's also one of the weirdest.

Hideo Kojima's "AAA walking simulator" is like no other game released in this year or any other, and true to form for Kojima, its mythos is a bit of a headache to fully make sense of.

Though the basic, elemental aspects of Death Stranding are easy enough to understand, the game doesn't stray far from Kojima's penchant for word salad exposition, to the point where keeping track is so exhausting you just might give up trying.

In the months leading up to the game's release, though, Kojima cheekily confessed that he himself didn't have a firm bead on the intricacies of the world he created.

Kojima said in an interview, "Even now, I don’t understand the game…Its world view, gameplay, they are all new. My mission is to create a genre that does not currently exist, and which takes everyone by surprise. There is, naturally, a risk in that."

And there it is. If you believe Kojima to be an all-knowing super-genius whose stories make perfect sense in his own mind, clearly that isn't the case at all. And this isn't the only time we'll be seeing him on this list.
