10 Craziest Video Game Myths (That Turned Out To Be True)

7. The Pistol Was Intentionally Overpowered In Halo

The pistol is generally the worst weapon in an FPS; it'€™s the gun you start with and typically ditch at the first available opportunity. The exception to that rule is the M6D Personal Defence Weapon from Halo, a lovely bit of kit that€™s not only super accurate but quite powerful too. It'€™s such a good weapon some fans felt it was too powerful, and that it upset the balance of the game.

A rumour started to grow over time that Bungie co-founder Jason Jones tweaked the power of the pistol just before the game shipped, and Jones finally confessed to the myth in a 2013 interview. He said the team felt the pistol wasn€™'t up to the level they needed, and since the game was close to being locked they didn€™t want to start messing around with the code.

He tweaked the code for the pistol, and the result was one of the finest pieces of weaponry in the series.
