10 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy The Xbox One

8. Paying For Xbox Live Is Totally Fine

Of course as fun as the prospect of playing online is - and as integral as it is to a lot of modern gaming experiences - it doesn't come free. It does on the PC, and on the PS4, but for some reason Microsoft have had us paying for the privilege ever since the original Xbox. Which seems kinda like BS to be honest, since without an Xbox Live subscription we not only can't get online to play multiplayer games but we also can't download DLC, use any of the many streaming video apps the consoles have, or buy indie games that are only available as downloads. Because physical media is dead, yeah? Which is all well and good so long as you can actually get on the internet to download stuff... We decided to accentuate the positive, though. You kind of have to otherwise you just end up angrily shaking your fist at the Dark Overlord Bill Gates. So you have to pay for an Xbox Live subscription, sure. In making sure people pay for it, Microsoft have managed to built up a pretty decent infrastructure for its servers compared to other online games, since they can properly maintain and update them with the added revenue. Sony are just making sure things work out of the goodness of their hearts (and because they have stuff like PSN where people pay a little extra to download games, demos and the like). As such Live is one of the better online gaming services a lot, even if the launch of the Xbox One was plagued with dropped games and the like - teething problems which have now, for the most part, been ironed out.
