10 Creepiest Video Game Enemies That Gave Everyone Nightmares
2. Pyramid Head (Silent Hill 2)
Before he became a poster child for an entire franchise, Pyramid Head was the unique creation of Silent Hill 2. Mute, intimidating and forever stalking, the villain was essentially a creepier Nemesis, as the ghostly manifestation would pop up to terrify you throughout the majority of the sequel. However, unlike Nemesis, Silent Hill 2's most iconic creation was scary because of how mysterious he was. Without any real backstory or explanation, you had no idea why Pyramid Head was chasing you throughout the game, and the hints the title did give you allowed players to come up with their own creepy interpretations of the character. Because he could appear without actually attacking you, the game was able to create a suspenseful and unpredictable atmosphere around the villain that made every one of his appearances a terrifying tour de force of uncertainty and supremely high tension.
