10 Cult Classic Video Games That Need Remakes
7. Alpha Protocol
In 2010 Obsidian Entertainment completed development of two games, one was the much-loved Fallout: New Vegas and the other was Alpha Protocol. The espionage RPG saw players take control of a new recruit at a spy agency as they travelled around the world unravelling a terrorist plot that twists and turns throughout its course.
The title unfortunately received a lukewarm reception upon its release, largely due to a lack of polish and subpar gameplay, which ultimately led to poor sales. The narrative-driven spy simulator has still managed to garner a cult following in the years since release, due to the freedom of choice provided to the player in the narrative, as well as robust RPG systems - both staples of Obsidian developed titles.
Obsidian has expressed an interest in developing a sequel for the game although this would be dependent on Sega approving the use of its intellectual property.
A remake could therefore be the better option as it would allow the developers to fix the lack of polish and subpar gameplay that plagued the original while maintaining the player choice and interesting narrative that helped it amass a cult following.
