5. Conker’s Bad Fur Day

Released on the Nintendo 64 in 2001 by platforming gurus Rare, Conker’s Bad Fur Day provided a mature take on the popular platforming genre. Featuring a lovable protagonist in Conker, the potty-mouthed Squirrel, the game targeted a mature audience with its humorous tone, which was a breath of fresh air for a genre that was over-saturated by family friendly titles.

Unfortunately, the platformer did not sell well, largely due to launching towards the end of the Nintendo 64’s lifecycle, as well as targeting what was a relatively niche demographic at the time. However it still holds a special place in many gamers' hearts and did in fact receive a remake in 2005 on the original Xbox in the form of Conker: Live and Reloaded.

Despite the graphical upgrades and tweaks to the controls, the remake received a mixed reception among fans as the original titles' humour had been censored. This divided much of the fanbase as the remake certainly was an upgrade in many regards, however many fans argued took away from the original’s humour and charm.

A new remake of the game that preserves the original titles humour would therefore likely be appreciated by fans of the beloved foul-mouthed squirrel.
